Emperor-Akihito-in-India

1) Japanese Emperor Akihito, along with his wife Empress Michiko, arrived at New Delhi on 30 November, 2013 for his 6-day state visit to India. This is the first ever visit of the Japanese Emperor to India and first visit to any South Asian country since he assumed his office. He took over as Japan’s Emperor in which year? – In 1990 (He took over as Emperor after death of his father Emperor Hirohito)

2) Union Cabinet on 28 November, 2013 approved a proposal to create a Legislative Council in which state, with which the number of states with the Upper House would reach eight? – Assam (The proposal to create a Legislative Council in Assam was approved by the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. Article 169 of the Indian Constitution gives power to the Parliament to create or abolish the Legislative Councils in states. According to the proposal, the Legislative Council will have 42 members. As per Article 171 of the Constitution, the total number of members in the Council of a state having such a House shall not exceed one third of the total number of members in the Legislative Assembly of that state. In the case of Assam, the total number of MLAs is 126. Till date seven states have bicameral legislatures – Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu Kashmir, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. Andhra Pradesh became bicameral in 2007 while Tamil Nadu in 2010. A Bill to create a Legislative Council in Rajasthan was introduced in Parliament recently and it is pending with the Standing Committee)

3) India’s first synthetic rubber plant was inaugurated on 29 November, 2013 at – Panipat, Haryana (Indian Synthetic Rubber Ltd (ISRL), Panipat is country’s first plant to manufacture synthetic rubber (e-SBR (styrene butadiene rubber). The plant is a joint-venture between Indian Oil, TSRC Corporation, Taiwan, and Marubeni Corporation, Japan and has been built at a cost of Rs. 958 crore)

4) Karan Thakur, the fast bowler of Indian Railways, on 30 November, 2013 became the first bowler to take all 10 wickets in an innings of CK Naidu Trophy. He achieved this feat against Baroda and his bowling figure stood at 28.5 over, 5 maiden, 77 runs and 10 wickets. Karan is the fourth Indian bowler overall to achieve this record. Which are the other three Indian bowlers to achieve this feat? – Pregmanshu Chatterjee (in 1955-56 for Bengal against Assam in a Ranji Trophy match), Predeep Sundaram (in 1985-86 for Rajasthan against Vidarbha) and Anil Kumble (in 1999 for India against Pakistan)

1) जापान के सम्राट अकिहितो अपनी पत्नी साम्राज्ञी मिचिको के साथ अपनी 6-दिन की राजकीय भारत यात्रा पर 30 नवम्बर, 2013 को दिल्ली पहुँचे। यह उनकी पहली भारत की यात्रा है तथा जापान की राजगद्दी पर बैठने के बाद किसी दक्षिण एशियाई देश की पहली राजकीय यात्रा है। वे किस वर्ष जापान के सम्राट बने थे? - 1990 में (अपने पिता सम्राट हिरोहितो की 1990 में मृत्यु के बाद वे जापान की राजगद्दी पर बैठे थे)

2) केन्द्रीय कैबिनेट ने 28 नवम्बर, 2013 को किस राज्य में उच्च सदन (विधानपरिषद – Legisative Counci) की स्थापना किए जाने के प्रस्ताव को अपनी मंजूरी प्रदान कर दी, जिसके चलते अब देश में द्विसदनीय विधानमण्डल (Bicameral Legislatures) वाले राज्यों की संख्या आठ हो जायेगी? - असम (प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह की अध्यक्षता में केन्द्रीय कैबिनेट ने असम में विधानपरिषद स्थापित करने के प्रस्ताव को अपनी मंजूरी प्रदान कर दी। भारतीय संविधान के 169वें अनुच्छेद के तहत किसी राज्य में विधानपरिषद स्थापित करने तथा समाप्त करने का अधिकार देश की संसद को उपलब्ध कराया गया है। केन्द्रीय कैबिनेट द्वारा असम की विधानपरिषद के सम्बन्ध में मंजूर विधेयक के तहत राज्य में 42 सदस्यीय विधानपरिषद की स्थापना की जायेगी। भारतीय संविधान के 171वें अनुच्छेद के तहत किसी राज्य में विधानपरिषद की सदस्य संख्या विधानसभा (Legislative Assembly) की सदस्य संख्या की एक-तिहाई से अधिक नहीं हो सकती है। असम में विधानसभा की सदस्य संख्या 126 है। इस समय देश में द्विसदनीय विधानमण्डल वाले सात राज्य हैं, जो हैं - आन्ध्र प्रदेश, बिहार, जम्मू-कश्मीर, कर्नाटक, महाराष्ट्र, तमिलनाडु और उत्तर प्रदेश। आन्ध्र प्रदेश में विधानपरिषद की स्थापना 2007 में हुई थी जबकि तमिलनाडु का विधानमण्डल 2010 में द्विसदनीय हुआ था)

3) कृत्रिम रबर का उत्पादन करने वाले भारत के पहले संयंत्र का उद्घाटन 29 नवम्बर, 2013 को किस स्थान पर किया गया? - पानीपत, हरियाणा (पानीपत में स्थापित कृत्रिम रबर बनाने वाले इस संयंत्र का नाम इण्डियन सिंथेटिक रबर लिमिटेड (Indian Synthetic Rubber Limited) है तथा इसमें स्टाइरीन ब्यूटाडाइन रबर (e-SBR (styrene butadiene rubber) - कृत्रिम रबर) का उत्पादन किया जायेगा। पानीपत में स्थापित किया गया यह संयंत्र भारत की इण्डियन आयल, ताइवान की TSRC कारपोरेशन और जापान की मारुबेनी कारपोरेशन के बीच एक संयुक्त उपक्रम है)

4) भारतीय रेलवे के तेज गेंदबाज करण ठाकुर ने 30 नवम्बर, 2013 को सीके नायडू ट्राफी के एक मैच में बड़ौदा के खिलाफ उसकी पारी के सभी दस विकेट लेकर इस ट्राफी के इतिहास में यह कारनामा करने वाले पहले गेंदबाज बनने का गौरव हासिल किया। उन्होंने बड़ौदा के खिलाफ इस मैच में 28.5 ओवर में 5 मेडन ओवर डाले तथा 77 रन देकर सभी 10 विकेट हासिल किए। करण यह कारानामा अंजाम देने वाले तीसरे भारतीय गेंदबाज बने। यह कारनामा करने वाले तीन अन्य भारतीय गेंदबाज कौन से हैं? - प्रेग्मांशू चटर्जी (1955-56 में रणजी ट्राफी मैच में बंगाल की ओर से खेलते हुए असम के खिलाफ), प्रदीप सुंदरम (1985-86 में राजस्थान की ओर से खेलते हुए विदर्भ के खिलाफ) और अनिल कुंबले (1999 में भारत की ओर से पाकिस्तान के खिलाफ)
