2) यूनेस्को (UNESCO) में अमेरिका का मतदान देने का अधिकार 8 नवम्बर, 2013 को उस समय समाप्त हो गया जब विश्व की इस शीर्ष सांस्कृतिक संस्था को अमेरिका अपना वित्तीय अंशदान जमा नहीं कर पाया। अमेरिका यूनेस्को को अपना अंशदान क्यों जमा नहीं कर रहा है? - वर्ष 2011 में फलस्तीन (Palestine) को यूनेस्को का सदस्य बनाए जाने के विरोध के रूप में (उल्लेखनीय है कि अमेरिका ने पेरिस स्थित संयुक्त राष्ट्र शैक्षिक, वैज्ञानिक तथा सांस्कृतिक संगठन (यूनेस्को) को अपना वित्तीय अंशदान उस समय देना बंद कर दिया था जब 2011 में विश्व के देशों ने फलस्तीन को यूनेस्को का सदस्य बनाने पर अपनी मुहर लगा दी थी। अमेरिका के साथ ही इज़रायल ने भी इस मुद्दे पर खिन्न होकर अपना अंशदान देना बंद कर दिया था। यूनेस्को के संविधान के अनुसार संगठन में अपने मतदान के अधिकार को बचाने के लिए अमेरिका को 8 नवम्बर तक अपना अंशदान जमा करना था अथवा अपना स्पष्टीकरण देना था, जो अमेरिका ने नहीं किया। इसके चलते अमेरिका तथा इज़राइल दोनों का मतदान अधिकार समाप्त कर दिया गया। अमेरिका हर वर्ष 8 करोड़ डालर का अंशदान यूनेस्को को करता है जोकि उसके वार्षिक बजट का 22% है। इसके चलता यूनेस्को के समक्ष बड़ा वित्तीय संकट खड़ा हो गया है)
